Martynas Mažvydas' "Katekizmas" – a unique facsimile, recreating the spirit of the first Lithuanian book.

In 2014, we celebrated the 470th anniversary of the appearance of the first Lithuanian book – Martynas Mažvydas' "Katekizmas" ("Catechism"). Published in 1547 with a print run of only 200–300 copies, only two original first edition copies have survived to this day. One of them is kept in the Vilnius University Library, the other in Poland. This publication is a priceless symbol of the Lithuanian nation's cultural heritage.

In collaboration with the Vilnius University Library, we created an exclusive, highest-quality facsimile, as close as possible to the original. We aimed to recreate every detail:

• Format and Binding: The original book format and binding type are precisely reproduced.
• Paper: A special rag paper equivalent was used, recreating the authentic texture and even the distinctive smell of the paper of that time.
• Cover: Natural calfskin parchment was used for the cover.

Carefully selected materials and precise work allowed us to create the most authentic version possible of this historical publication. This facsimile is not just a book, but a living connection to the origins of Lithuanian culture.

This limited edition (100 pieces) was in high demand and has already sold out. The edition will not be reprinted.
